Keep lobsters in the shipping container or in a loose paper bag. Do not even consider using the freezer!
Check on your lobsters from time to time. If they are still moving, you can put off cooking, but if they start to move less or stop altogether, you should prepare them right away! Follow steps below.

For every live lobster you intend to purchase, have a Styrofoam cooler ready. Each cooler should have an ice bag at the bottom that is tightly sealed. Since the fresh water from the melting ice could kill the lobster during transport, you should keep it contained in the bags.
Newspaper should be layered several times over the ice bag. This will lessen the likelihood that the lobster may accidentally rip the bag open.
Bring the lobster home as soon as you can. When you get home, place the lobster in an open container, cover it with wet seaweed or a wet cloth, and store it in the fridge. The lobster needs to be prepared as quickly as possible.

You shouldn’t use dry ice either because it releases a lot of carbon dioxide, which can cause the lobsters to suffocate.
It is not advised to ship in seawater unless the holding tank is equipped with aeration equipment. A lobster in a container of seawater quickly exhausts the dissolved oxygen in the water and suffocates without the addition of aeration.
