How are Trader Joe’s coconut shrimp prepared?
Shrimp is a fantastic cuisine, so it’s a bad that fewer frozen dinners contain it. You can get several recipes using shrimp if you check for them in the freezer section of your neighborhood Trader Joe’s. We’ve previously examined a couple of those dishes, such as the Spicy Thai Shrimp Fried Rice and the Sriracha Shrimp Bowl.
But Trader Joe’s Coconut Shrimp might be of interest if all you want is a bag of breaded shrimp that you can just throw in the oven. To determine whether this frozen shrimp meets our hunger for shrimp, we will sample it for ourselves.
First off, cooking this is incredibly simple. Put the shrimp on a baking sheet, preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. While they’re cooking, there is a noticeable coconut aroma. They actually have a slight cookie aroma.
You should anticipate finding roughly 15 shrimp inside, according to the packaging. 18 whole shrimp and two tails that were missing were included in our box. Then, in two sections, two shrimp joined to create a super-shrimp, bringing our total to twenty plus a little change.
These, however, don’t actually taste as sweet as they smell. Although there is a hint of sweetness and a coconutty undertone, we don’t believe the breading tastes all that different from regular breading. Additionally, we are unsure of the type of sauce we would use for these. Your typical cocktail sauce doesn’t seem to be the right solution. Personally, we’d choose something a bit sweeter. In fact, a little honey drizzled over these may be extremely wonderful.
The carton states that one serving contains around five shrimp. This quantity will include 480 mg of salt and 250 calories, of which 100 are from fat. If you consume the full box in one sitting, you will consume 750 calories (300 of which come from fat) and 1,440 mg of salt. Or you might consume even more if you end up with a super box like we did. With these small guys, exercise caution!
The coconut shrimp from Trader Joe’s are rather good. Although some people may find these to be a little dry, we didn’t find that to be an issue.

If you don’t want to make that many, you can use fewer shrimp and the same recipe, saving the extra batter to use again later or throwing it away.
