Who produces a healthy pantry?
At ShopRite and The Fresh Grocer supermarkets, Wakefern Food Corp. is introducing a new and enlarged assortment of its healthier Wholesome Pantry and Wholesome Pantry Organic products.
Wholesome Pantry – Is it healthy?
The Wholesome Pantry line of items from ShopRite incorporates the straightforward idea that “food is the main ingredient” and offers healthier alternatives of your favorite meals, snacks, and drinks.
The focus of ShopRite’s Wholesome Pantry and Wholesome Pantry Organic brands is entirely on the ingredients left out.
These private label products no longer include more than 100 artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or other additives. In case you want to know what you’re missing, here is the list. (Use them in your upcoming spelling competition.)
Despite the fact that I have been a customer of this ShopRite for many years, a personal shopping tour with Registered Dietitian Jessica Serdikoff from ShopRite of Brookdale demonstrated that there is still much to learn about the Wholesome Pantry brand.
Our first destination was her dietitian’s shelf, which is located just past the pharmacy on your left. Jessica uses this shelf to share ideas for tasty, wholesome, time-saving, and inexpensive foods. When you go shopping next, be sure to look around this corner.
While browsing the aisles with Jessica, she identifies a number of Wholesome Pantry products that are healthier versions of everyday staples:
USDA Certified Organic is what Wholesome Pantry Organic offers. This means that during the manufacturing process, natural resources are conserved, biodiversity is maintained, and only certified materials are used. Check out the butcher department’s assortment of WP organic meats.
Saving money is an added benefit of Wholesome Pantry’s healthy eating program. Customers benefit from savings on all items under ShopRite’s private label. Why not choose these if you have the option? Better than ever, healthy shopping is simple, and new Wholesome Pantry goods are being released daily.
Is ShopRite a brand of the wholesome pantry?
Wakefern revamps and broadens ShopRite’s Wholesome Pantry product lines to offer a fresh perspective on flavorful, budget-friendly foods. So new and so daring! This month, Wakefern’s award-winning ShopRite Wholesome Pantry and Wholesome Pantry Organic food lines debut a brand-new design and feel.
Is Bowl and Basket the same thing as Wholesome Pantry?
NJ’s KEASBY — The award-winning Wholesome Pantry and Wholesome Pantry Organic product lines, which are offered at all of ShopRite’s locations in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, are being expanded and rebranded, according to the company. Products from Wholesome Pantry will also be offered at Fresh Grocer locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The largest retailer-owned cooperative in the nation, Wakefern Food Corp., operates the grocery chains ShopRite and The Fresh Grocer.
This month, the well-known private label brand of economical meals with clean ingredients will be reintroduced with a new appearance and feel, a few new and unique products, and a new tagline, “Food Set Free.”
Chris Skyers, vice president of Own Brands at Wakefern Food Corp., declared: “We’re excited to be unveiling a striking new appearance for this beloved brand. “The Wholesome Pantry brand has provided delectable, free-from, and organic goods that are affordable and widely available since its launch four years ago. By upgrading the brand with even more cutting-edge products that we know our customers will appreciate, we’ve now pushed it to the next level.”
Frozen food, fruit, dairy, and meat are just a few of the aisles that carry Wholesome Pantry products. Beginning in early October, store shelves will be stocked with more than 100 freshly branded products, such as nut butters, organic fruits and vegetables, and packed salads.
Along with the rebranding, new, cutting-edge goods will be introduced, such as organic Kombucha in flavors like ginger lemon and coconut watermelon elderberry. Organic frozen breakfast bowls, which offer a quick, wholesome meal to start the day, will also be a part of the launch.
Over the following 24 months, ShopRite expects to introduce dozens of new Wholesome Pantry items, including baked goods, condiments, dry pasta, grains, snacks, seafood, and meatless dinners. Customers have the option of buying the new products in-person or online through ShopRite’s ShopRite from Home service.
As part of the relaunch, which will be backed by a strong digital marketing effort, the tagline for the new campaign, “Food Set Free,” will be prominently displayed. Customers will be able to download suggested recipes from the internet as well as watch live cooking demos on the supermarket’s official Facebook and Instagram profiles as part of the promotion. The dietitian staff at ShopRite will perform the demonstrations.
Natalie Menza-Crowe, MS, RD, director of Health and Wellness at Wakefern, said: “For customers seeking for organic or better-for-you options, our Wholesome Pantry collection is a terrific answer that checks a lot of boxes when it comes to feeling good about the meals you serve yourself and your family.” We’re thrilled with Wholesome Pantry’s updated look and feel and can’t wait to work with our clients to help them incorporate these ingredients into their favorite recipes to create delectable dishes.
Consumers can expect quality that is on par with or better than that of national brands from the best-selling Wholesome Pantry range, which includes both Wholesome Pantry and Wholesome Pantry Organic.
The Wholesome Pantry Organic line has an additional USDA Organic Certification in addition to the same free-from requirements as its conventional sibling, Wholesome Pantry. Under the National Organic Program of the USDA, all Wholesome Pantry organic products are regarded as being non-GMO.
Following the successful 2019 launches of ShopRite’s award-winning Bowl & Basket and Paperbird private label brands, Wholesome Pantry and Wholesome Pantry Organic underwent a rebranding. The best of ShopRite value and innovation are combined with a distinctive, contemporary brand style and spirit in the new flagship brands. Bowl & Basket foods pair carefully chosen ingredients at a reasonable cost. There is a collection of household goods by Paperbird that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
healthy pantry at ShopRite is it organic?
Food that is certified organic must be grown without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Ingredients made using genetic engineering are prohibited. Processed foods cannot contain artificial colors or preservatives. Antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones, and artificial growth promoters cannot be used in the production of meat or dairy components.
What source does ShopRite use to procure its chicken?
The ShopRite Kitchen by Perdue brand will be used to market the chicken, which is sourced from Perdue Farms. The items are less expensive than the majority of fried and rotisserie chicken options. Additionally, the merchant offers recipes that use chicken devoid of antibiotics.
What source does ShopRite use for their meat?
ShopRite recently introduced Farm Promise, a line of beef and hog products that come from family-owned farms in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and upstate New York. ShopRite has extended organic and natural sections in the meat department.
Where is the chicken from Bowl and Basket sourced from?
ShopRite has released a line of fresh chicken goods in the meat case as part of its extensive rebranding of its own brands under the Bowl & Basket label.
According to the retailer-owned cooperative, the supermarket’s private label poultry selection has increased significantly with the introduction of Bowl & Basket Fresh Chicken. This shows the cooperative’s commitment to providing customers with an ever-growing selection of premium products under its flagship private label brands, which include Bowl & Basket, Paperbird, and Wholesome Pantry.
As the chain moved to improve consumer perception of the offering while growing penetration of private-brand goods, which typically provide retailers with higher margins than branded counterparts at a lower price to consumers, Bowl & Basket and Paperbird, which were first introduced in 2019, replaced the ShopRite label for national-brand equivalent items.
The chain claimed that the new chicken line, which has more than two dozen SKUs, gives the highest-quality poultry options while simultaneously satisfying increased demand for sustainability and transparency. The chicken is supplied from the United States and is part of Wakefern/Animal ShopRite’s Welfare and Animal Care Program.
In a statement, Roger Savoia, vice president of ShopRite’s meat division, said, “We’re delighted to launch this new product in our stores and build on our long legacy of delivering our customers fresh, high-quality chicken at wonderful values. “We’re certain that this new line of chicken will replace our existing fresh poultry portfolio’s anchor brand.”
According to Pam Ofri, director of product development and operations, Own Brands at ShopRite, “years in the making, the Bowl & Basket Fresh Chicken line will provide our customers with an easy, affordable way to create fast, tasty, and healthy meals that they can feel good about serving their families.” “We know our customers want high-quality products at the best price, and we’re devoted to delivering on that promise,” says the company.
The Keasbey, New Jersey-based cooperative Wakefern Food Corp., which is owned by retailers, has registered ShopRite as a trademark. Each week, millions of customers are served by its over 2980 locations, which are spread across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland.
Does ShopRite produce all of its own food?
The “Fresh to Table” meal solutions areas of Wakefern Food Corp. have been expanded to other locations by a couple of ShopRite owners.
In fall 2020, a store-within-a-store concept called Fresh to Table will be introduced. It will focus on meal solutions and nutritious, trendy foods in a variety of grab-and-go formats. With sections dubbed Prep & Eat with ready-to-cook items, Heat & Eat with ready-to-heat and -serve items, and Grab & Eat with ready-to-eat meals, the retail model was created within each supermarket’s footprint to provide a one-stop-shopping experience for various meal times. Customers can navigate the area and choose their meal items more easily thanks to clear signage.
The Romano family owns and runs the Ledgewood, New Jersey-based RoNetco Supermarkets Inc., which announced last week that it has begun offering Fresh to Table at its ShopRite shops in Newton, Sparta, Byram Township, Mansfield Township, and Succasunna, New Jersey.
Dominick Romano, vice president and chief operating officer of RoNetco Supermarkets, said in a statement that “Fresh to Table offers a whole new approach for customers to obtain fresh items and take home easy-to-prepare meals.” Our customers may get the meal solutions they need at the greatest price thanks to a combination of wholesome seasonal foods, an excellent choice of products, and ease.
The One Stop Dinner Shop section of Fresh to Table also has five-ingredient recipes created by ShopRite chefs and dietitians. Weekly menu changes are made. In order to inspire customers to discover novel and nutritious food options, ShopRite chefs and nutritionists also pull from fresh departments throughout the store, such as meat, seafood, produce, bakery, and others, to highlight on-trend and seasonal goods for the Tasty & Trending section. Things vary every few weeks. Additionally, additional speciality items from Wakefern’s Bowl & Basket and Wholesome Pantry own brands are available in the versatile Fresh to Table area.
ShopRite Supermarkets Inc., based in Edison, New Jersey, launched Fresh to Table at its Warwick, New York, ShopRite location last month. In the Hudson Valley and Capital Region of New York, as well as in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the corporation owns and manages 36 ShopRite supermarkets.
According to Steve Savas, president of ShopRite Supermarkets, “We’re delighted to enhance our fresh food selections at the ShopRite of Warwick with our Fresh to Table area.” “Fresh to Table is a unique new shop experience that combines tasty, freshly created meals and chef-prepared dishes combined with beneficial ingredients to make making wholesome meals for our clients an easy, stress-free process.”

However, because Whole Foods has greater hygienic procedures in place, it has a higher quality than ShopRite.
