Finding compliant meat that goes beyond the fundamentals of raw chicken, beef, shellfish, and hog is one of the Whole30’s most difficult challenges. Sometimes a little processed meat seems good, but they typically include a variety of substances that are not allowed (like nitrates, sugar and a whole bunch of other stuff). Even the healthiest selections frequently still include carrageenan, putting them immediately off limits.
Fortunately, Aidells Chicken & Apple Sausage is tasty and legal. Every Sunday night, when I prepare my weekly egg bake, I use it. It is excellent for scrambled eggs or sautéed vegetables with fresh peppers. What’s best? It is actually offered by TARGET! I haven’t noticed Aidells at the nearby Whole Foods, which is confusing. However, I have discovered it at a couple more nearby supermarkets (Kroger, Nino Salvaggio and Better Health Store). However, my local Costco does not sell Aidells Chicken & Apple Sausage.
This is one of the few Aidells items that is permitted during the Whole30, so please proceed with caution. They also produce noncompliant Chicken & Apple Breakfast Sausage Links. Don’t purchase those by mistake because they include additional sugar.

I heated up some of this Whole30 breakfast sausage whenever I had some extra time in the morning, and I typically ate it with a hard boiled egg (made every Sunday) and some fruit. It produced a breakfast that was comparatively quick enough that I could eat it while developing some recipes for this tiny little blog of mine.
I would consume this Whole30 breakfast sausage in omelets or with fried eggs on the weekends when we could take our time getting going. It was best when eaten with eggs, avocado, and salsa; they make a delicious combination.

Fortunately, most grocery stores provide bacon and hot dogs that are Whole30-compliant. These brands include Applegate, Wellshire Farms, and Pederson’s Family Farms. To be certain, always read the ingredients label!
Lettuce leaves can readily be used in place of the bolilo. The bacon-wrapped hot dog can even be served on a bed of lettuce to create a filling Mexican salad!
Is yogurt made with almond milk Whole30-approved?
Your yogurt is Whole30 compliant if the ingredients in it are also compliant.
Here is a “Tip” from my favorite Whole30 book, “The Whole30,” about almond milk. As I’ve written in other Whole30-approved postings, I believe it applies in this case as well.
Generally speaking, nuts and seeds are not the healthiest sources of fat, and drinking food is never better for you than eating it. Therefore, even if you produce your own almond milk, we’d prefer that you merely occasionally consume almonds.
In general, eating—and chewing—your food is always preferred to drinking it for satiety and hormone balance. Since you obviously eat yogurt with a spoon but don’t aggressively chew it like food, it falls into a peculiar middle ground. Additionally, as was already said, nuts aren’t the finest source of fat, but they are still permitted throughout the Whole30.
We might occasionally want to relax with some delicious yogurt, therefore I’ve put up a list of Whole30 Compliant Yogurt Brands and Where to Find Them for your convenience. Just remember not to eat this for breakfast every day.

Beer-braised bratwurst is one of our favorite weekend dishes to prepare. It’s incredibly simple to prepare, especially when feeding a large group of people. And everyone is certain to adore this Whole30 dish for braised bratwurst and cabbage.
Finding Whole30-compliant bratwurst is surprisingly simple, as I discovered throughout my challenge. The Whole Foods meat counter is where I purchased mine, but I’ve also seen it at other grocers and Brat Hans also sells some. However, any sausage link that complies with the requirements will do in this recipe.
The apple cider vinegar gives it a nice tang and gives this dish such a savory and delightful flavor because I was unable to add beer. My preferred section? slathering it with mustard and sauerkraut and getting to work! I adore the Farmhouse Culture Sauerkraut that I use.
So prepare this midweek meal of Whole30 Braised Bratwurst and Cabbage for all you brat lovers out there, and ENJOY! A fantastic go-to.
- Ideally made of cast iron, a skillet should be heated to medium-high. Add the onions and oil. For three minutes, saute while seasoning with salt and pepper.
- The bratwurst sausages should be nested in the onions. Cook the bratwursts, covered, for about 20 minutes, turning them over halfway through. Then, add the broth and apple cider vinegar.
- The brats should be taken out and placed on a plate. If desired, you can grill the brats to give them more flavor and grill markings.
- In the meantime, add 1 tablespoon of brown mustard and the cabbage to the skillet. Sauté for about 7 minutes, or until cabbage is soft. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Reposition the brats into the cabbage. Serve with mustard and sauerkraut.
Are nitrates present in Aidells sausage?
