Many customers expressed their anger on the business’ website after the beloved sausage rolls were discontinued, with comments like “Bring the Sausage Wrap Rolls back!” and “Lost Family Tradition” strewn throughout the page. The response was sufficient for T. Sister Schubert’s parent firm, Marzetti Company, replied.

The firm added, “We love our products as much as you do, and we realize how sad it is when a product you love is no longer accessible. We apologize that our new Sausage Pinwheels aren’t as tempting to you, but in these difficult times we’ve had to make tough choices, therefore the sausage wraps will no longer be available. We appreciate your interest and hope you love our other items.

However, in the spirit of the season—and given that a Southern Thanksgiving or Christmas wouldn’t be complete without Sister Schubert’s at the table—perhaps the pinwheels and modernized cinnamon rolls can establish a new holiday custom for families in the South. But those who are still opposed to change need not worry; Sister Schubert’s signature Parker House Style yeast rolls will remain.

Lancaster Colony Corp., a company based in Ohio, purchased Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls Inc., a manufacturer of frozen, prebaked yeast rolls. Sister Schubert’s, which is eight years old, has annual sales of about $20 million.

How are frozen rolls baked to rise?

Dinner tables love hot buttered rolls, but what do you do if you forgot to thaw the rolls the night before and it’s almost time to serve? Do this:

  • Set the oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.
